Let’s Start With the Good News

​I’ll start with the fun stuff first. From Tuesday August 4th to Monday August 10th, I’m running my first Amazon Countdown Deal. Woot Woot!

As a quick recap of the last *cough* months, (it’s been waaaay too long since I last blogged), shortly after my debut fantasy was released it became apparent something was going on in the upper echelons of the small press that had published my work. By the end of 2024, the writing was clear on the wall. A new owner would be taking over January of 2025.

Everything started off well under the new command, but it didn’t last. There were issues with the transfer of ownership that came to a head halfway through the year. The end result? The small press had to close.

Thus began the saga of making sure my work was off all sites. My experience wasn’t as bad as some authors who were hit with technical issues that delayed things, but it still took a while.
The recovery from the whole experience took longer.

But that is all in the past. Lessons were learned, and we moved on to better things. And it really does feel better.

Because my novel had already been published for a while, and because I wasn’t prepared to slam my head against the querying wall, I chose to self-publish.

It’s been one heck of a learning curve, and I’m still learning. But I’m on the other side, my work is out, and now I’m running my first sale! (It’s a bit silly how excited I am about this. 😊)
