This week has been intense. A week of proofreading culminated in perhaps a master copy. To top that, the week ended with a YouTube event that went far better than I had hoped. Let me start at the beginning.
I’ve been working on proofreading the reformatted version of Liquid Fire as I mentioned in my last post. I’ve looked at it enough times now that I’m starting to memorize the placement of sentences on the page. Which is both good and bad. It helps me keep track of any weird changes that would alter the format of the page, but I feel mildly blind to what the page says vs what I expect it to say. I am definitely happy I’m not the only person proofing it. But it was worth all the work. All the mornings of waking up early, nights of staying up late, and squeezing in all the time my children would allow during the day. We might (heavy emphasis on might) have a final copy. I’ll know for sure once I get the response back from the editor. To top off the emotional and mental rollercoaster ride of my-book-is-almost-publishable, Renee April read the first chapter of Liquid Fire on her YouTube show ‘One Chapter Wonder’. The response was very positive and very encouraging. I love how Renee reads, and it was incredible getting to witness my book being the one she was reading. Then to hear her asides as she hit parts she really liked and the comments in the chatroom that was happening at the same time… So amazing. Anytime I’m feeling bad about my writing, I’m going to watch that episode. The rollercoaster ride this week has been intense, and fabulous.
